Anne Eglash MD, IBCLC, FABM, is a clinical professor with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. In addition to family medicine, she has been practicing breastfeeding medicine since 1994.
Dr. Eglash is a cofounder of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, the Medical Director and cofounder of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, and the Medical Director of the University of Wisconsin Breastfeeding Medicine Clinic. She has published many peer- reviewed articles on breastfeeding medicine, has been the lead author on several Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine protocols, and has been an associate editor for Breastfeeding Medicine Journal.
She co-hosts and produces a free bimonthly breastfeeding medicine podcast series, called The Breastfeeding Medicine Podcast.
Dr. Eglash is founder and president of The Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education (IABLE), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the creation of breastfeeding-knowledgeable medical systems and communities.

Lactating parents of premature and/or ill infants in neonatal and pediatric intensive care units need support of several dimensions. Given the superior health outcomes for human milk-fed premature and ill infants, this course is designed to educate NICU/PICU teams (nurses, physicians, dietitians, health professional students) on how to encourage provision of breastmilk, support the establishment and maintenance of milk production, and troubleshoot lactation problems associated with pumping, being back to work and transitioning the infant to the breast/chest.
Objectives
- Identify health risks to premature infants who are not fed human milk.
- Identify maternal health risks of not lactating.
- Explain differences between mothers' own milk and pasteurized donor human milk.
- Identify maternal health conditions that are contraindications or that warrant special consideration during lactation.
- Explain parental barriers to providing expressed human milk, and opportunities to help.
- Describe breast anatomy and hormones of milk production and release.
- Identify maternal risk factors for insufficient milk production.

Join us with Katrina Mitchell MD, IBCLC, PMH-C in a two-part series focusing on breast pathology during lactation. She will provide a detailed surgical perspective in the management of complex abscesses and idiopathic granulomatous mastitis through case discussion. This is a great opportunity for participants to gain a deep understanding of the various factors that influence best approaches when coordinating care or managing breast pathology.
We will also discuss indications and limitations of breast imaging during lactation whether for screening or evaluating breast lesions. Our final few hours will center on breast cancer and lactation, to understand considerations when counseling a lactating person with a history of breast cancer, and how best to support an individual who is diagnosed with breast cancer during lactation.

She is the director and owner of a private pediatric medical center, launched in 2016, where all of the physicians and staff have lactation consultant training. She is the founder of the course entitled "Breastfeeding Medicine for Doctors in Ukraine", and she has been teaching this course to physicians since 2018. She is currently living in Israel with her husband and 10 year old son Live, until they can safely return to Ukraine.

Anne Eglash MD, IBCLC, FABM, is a clinical professor with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. In addition to practicing family medicine, she has been a board certified lactation consultant since 1994.
Dr. Eglash is a cofounder of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, the Medical Director and cofounder of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, and the Medical Director of the University of Wisconsin Breastfeeding Medicine Clinic. She has published many peer- reviewed articles on breastfeeding medicine, has been the lead author on several Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine protocols, and was an associate editor for Breastfeeding Medicine Journal.
She co-hosts and produces a breastfeeding medicine podcast series, called The Breastfeeding Medicine Podcast. Dr. Eglash is the founder and president of the Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education.

This 90-minute course involves reading 2 peer reviewed journal articles on the topic of ethics pertaining to breastfeeding and HIV, followed by questions pertaining to these articles.
Objectives
- Describe the risks and benefits providers must discuss with lactating parents who are HIV positive, including the risks of HIV transmission to the infant for a woman living with HIV with an undetectable viral load
- List ethical considerations that make shared decision making around breastfeeding important for people living with HIV
- Explain why breastfeeding by people living with HIV does not meet the criteria for criminalization

Hello, my name is Ofri Hayosh. I am a pediatrician from Israel and an IBCLC. My passion is breastfeeding advocacy. I am located in Toronto and working for the past 2 years in breastfeeding medicine, peds virtually through Israel, and LC in Toronto. My current focus is on maternal and infant health through breastfeeding medicine.In the past 2 years, I have been practicing breastfeeding medicine. I joined the Leadership program of the ABM (Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine) and became a lecturer for a physician education lactation medicine course in Israel. I also founded a support group for breastfeeding physicians on WhatsApp and volunteered with NABBLM (North American Board for Breastfeeding Lactation Medicine).
