Overview of this Series

This monthly webinar series explores the diverse pathways within Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine and provides practical insights into building a career in this evolving field. Experienced colleagues will share how they have incorporated breastfeeding and lactation medicine into their clinical practice, while also balancing other professional responsibilities and pursuits including research, curricula development, medical education, advocacy, and leadership.

• Describe options for financial models when practicing breastfeeding medicine in a direct primary care
• Explain ways to support lactating dyads in a direct primary care model

About the Instructor

Angela Marchant DO, IBCLC is a family physician in Madison, WI. She completed medical school at AT Still School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, which included a predoctoral teaching fellowship in osteopathy and anatomy. She is grateful she trained with some of the world’s best osteopaths, including completing the 9 phase series with Dr. James Jealous and his students in Biodynamic Traditional Cranial Osteopathy. After residency at University of Wisconsin Madison, she practiced primary care and obstetrics at a Federally Qualified Health Center. In 2024 she founded Tallgrass Osteopathic Family Medicine, a direct primary care practice where she practices traditional osteopathy and primary care for all ages. In 2026 she co-founded The Midwest Center for Breastfeeding and Postpartum Medicine with Dr. Eglash and is excited to build a breastfeeding medicine practice in an innovative direct-care model. In her free time, she enjoys exploring remnant prairies, staying active and playing with her two young boys.

Recording/Evaluation

The recording of the webinar AND the evaluation will be available for 1 month to those who have registered. Attendees can earn credits through any combination of live participation and/or viewing the recording.

Within 3 days after the event, the recording and evaluation will be available at the blue “View My Courses” button in your IABLE’s My Account page. To receive your credits, you must attest to attending live or watching the recording, in addition to completing the quiz and evaluation.

These must be completed within 1 month, before they expire.

Please note that for a number of reasons, it is our policy not to permit registration for our events, nor access to the recordings, after the event has occurred. These include policies of our accreditors and speakers, technical issues, and fairness to everyone who has registered.

Accreditation

CMEs: The AAFP has reviewed The Many Facets of Breastfeeding Medicine, and deemed it acceptable for 1.0 AAFP credit. Term of approval is from 12/11/2026 to 12/10/2027. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CERPs: According to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) Individual CERPs Guide for Recertification, Section IIIA, education that has been awarded educational credit by another board or organization may be counted as CERPs. All IABLE courses both live and enduring are awarded continuing education credits (CMEs) from the American Academy of Family Physicians. Each CME credit can be counted as one CERP.  There is no limit to the number of CMEs that can be counted as CERPs.

CEUs: According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the continuing education hours approved by the AAFP and AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ meet the requirement of formally approved continuing education hours and may be used as such for ANCC Certification renewal. https://www.nursingworld.org/certification/faqs/

Cancellation Policy
