In order to perform a breast milk culture,  clean your nipple and areolar region with an alcohol wipe. Express 1-2 tsp of milk into a sterile specimen cup such as a urine cup. When doing so, keep your fingers behind the areola, avoiding the region cleansed with alcohol.
