Exclusive Pumping: Beyond the Basics Webinar

This 2-hour webinar focuses on clinical challenges experienced by lactating individuals who primarily pump milk. The sessions will address strategies to prevent and manage common issues such as low and excessive milk production as well as recurrent mastitis and pain.

Goals for Exclusive Pumping: Beyond the Basics:

• Recognize the relationship between method of milk expression and prolactin response
• Identify risk factors for low milk production among individuals who pump
• Explain why exclusive pumping can lead to over production of milk
• Identify how pumping can increase the risk of trauma and breast inflammation
• Discuss strategies to prevent breast and nipple pain among individuals who exclusively pump
• Describe interventions to help manage low and high milk production
• Identify strategies to manage breast and nipple pain among individuals who exclusively pump

Recording/Evaluation

The recording of the webinar AND the evaluation will be available for 2 months to those who have registered. Attendees can earn credits through any combination of live participation and/or viewing the recording.

Within 3 days after the event, the recording and evaluation will be available at the blue “View My Courses” button in your IABLE’s My Account page. To receive your credits, you must attest to attending live or watching the recording, in addition to completing the quiz and evaluation.

These must be completed within 2 months, before they expire.

Please note that for a number of reasons, it is our policy not to permit registration for our events, nor access to the recordings, after the event has occurred. These include policies of our accreditors and speakers, technical issues, and fairness to everyone who has registered.

Accreditation

CMEs: The AAFP has reviewed Exclusive Pumping: Beyond the Basics and deemed it acceptable for up to 2.0 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CERPS: According to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) Individual CERPs Guide for Recertification, Section IIIA, education that has been awarded educational credit by another board or organization may be counted as CERPs. All IABLE courses both live and enduring are awarded continuing education credits (CMEs) from the American Academy of Family Physicians. Each CME credit can be counted as one CERP.  There is no limit to the number of CMEs that can be counted as CERPs.

Nursing Credits: According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the continuing education hours approved by the AAFP and AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ meet the requirement of formally approved continuing education hours and may be used as such for ANCC Certification renewal. https://www.nursingworld.org/certification/faqs/
