Parental and Infant Health During Lactation is an all-day course that builds on basic breastfeeding and lactation knowledge. The 5 instructors cover a variety of topics regarding the intersection of maternal and infant health conditions and lactation.

Goals for this webinar include:

• Identify common chronic maternal and infant medical conditions that impact lactation
• Explain how the parental diet may affect milk quality
• Discuss the evaluation of a breastfed or human milk-fed infant who is growing slowly
• Describe the relationship between parental weight and lactation
• Explain the variety of food allergies that may occur among breastfed infants

Eval/Certification

Everyone registered for this event will receive a link to the course evaluation materials in their IABLE Account’s “View My Courses” page within 3 days of the live course. Completing this within one month of the live webinar is a requirement for certification.

Accreditation

CMEs: The AAFP has reviewed Parent and Infant Health During Lactation, and deemed it acceptable for 6.0 AAFP credit. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CERPS: According to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) Individual CERPs Guide for Recertification, Section IIIA, education that has been awarded educational credit by another board or organization may be counted as CERPs. All IABLE courses both live and enduring are awarded continuing education credits (CMEs) from the American Academy of Family Physicians. Each CME credit can be counted as one CERP.  There is no limit to the number of CMEs that can be counted as CERPs.

Nursing Credits: According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the continuing education hours approved by the AAFP and AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ meet the requirement of formally approved continuing education hours and may be used as such for ANCC Certification renewal. https://www.nursingworld.org/certification/faqs/
