Overview of the Case Series

The Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education’s ‘Clinical Case Discussions in Breastfeeding Medicine’ is a monthly webinar series of 1.25-hour case presentations. The goal of this series is to enhance the clinical practice of breastfeeding medicine by bringing together physicians and other providers from around the world, in order to share experiences, evidence, and innovative ideas in clinical practice. This series is perfect for physicians and other providers who have been practicing breastfeeding medicine for several years, or for those who are exploring the field or just getting started.

Webinar Objectives

  • • Explain appropriate imaging for lactating individuals
  • • Identify symptoms which should prompt breast imaging
  • • Identify when a punch biopsy is needed to rule out Paget’s or inflammatory breast cancer

About the Instructor

Dr. Rachel Yang is a board-certified general surgeon, fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist, international board-certified lactation consultant, and certified lactation counselor. She has a unique practice that encompasses the treatment of all breast pathologies-from cancer to benign disease to lactation.

Her breastfeeding medicine services offered in clinic include diagnostic ultrasound, therapeutic ultrasound, and extensive procedural capabilities. Her current research endeavors focus on management of granulomatous mastitis and lactational abscess.

Dr. Yang serves as a resource to many local and regional lactation consultants and medical providers who care for lactating patients.
