Expanding Horizons in Breastfeeding and Lactation Support Webinar

Expanding Horizons is an all-day course that builds on basic breastfeeding and lactation knowledge. The instructors use polls and case discussions to engage learners on a variety of topics that are familiar to anyone who counsels breastfeeding and lactating dyads.

Goals for Expanding Horizons include to:

  • Express knowledge regarding the top 10 clinically relevant research findings from 2022
  • Discuss ways to counsel and prepare pregnant individuals who have a history of low milk production
  • Identify the impact of postpartum mood disorders on breastfeeding and lactation
  • Describe strategies to support Black breastfeeding families
  • Explain to families when and why galactogogues may or may not be helpful to increase milk production
  • Identify underlying reasons for nipple and breast pain and describe strategies to help

Recording

Accreditation

CERPs: This course has been allocated 6 (L) CERPs recognized by IBLCE. Long Term Provider #117-04.

CMEs: The AAFP has reviewed Expanding Horizons in Breastfeeding and Lactation, and deemed it acceptable for 6 Prescribed AAFP credits. Term of approval is from 04/14/2023 to 04/13/2024. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.

Nursing Credits: According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the continuing education hours approved by the AAFP and AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ meet the requirement of formally approved continuing education hours and may be used as such for ANCC Certification renewal. https://www.nursingworld.org/certification/faqs/
