1) The One Day Primary Care Breastfeeding Medicine Basics for Healthcare Providers – Live or Online
IABLE’s 7.5-hour basic breastfeeding training for providers (curriculum here) instructs participants on prenatal breastfeeding education, intrapartum and early postpartum support, and differential diagnosis and management of the most common breastfeeding problems encountered by primary care providers. These problems include evaluation and management of low milk production, breast/nipple pain, the use of medications during breastfeeding, complications in the early postpartum period, and breast pump counseling.
This course is an excellent primer for physicians in practice, and especially suitable for medical students and residents during a breastfeeding medicine elective or rotations involving lactating dyads. We offer this course at a significant discount to health professional trainees. IABLE is happy to arrange invoicing for academic departments or other institutions that would like to cover groups of physicians/providers or students/physicians in training.

Do I need to finish all the sessions in Core Content to earn educational credits?
You will earn credits separately for each session you complete, no matter if you purchase individual Core Content sessions or the Core Content Bundle.
How long do I have access to Core Content sessions?
If you purchase individual sessions and not the entire bundle, you have access to the sessions for one year or until you finish the purchased sessions. In other words, once you finish a session, you no longer have access.
If you purchase the entire bundle, we provide access to the sessions for 3 years, including the sessions you’ve finished. Access includes annual updates to the lectures.
Do I need to finish Core Content before I start Deep Dive?
Yes, IABLE requires that participants finish Core Content before starting Deep Dive. A solid understanding of Core Content is essential for an effective learning experience in Deep Dive.
Physicians and other providers interested in enrolling in Deep Dive April 2027 will be required to have a Core Content completion certificate when applying for participation. We recommend enrolling in Core Content well before application for Deep Dive ends March 1st, 2027.

11) Educational Credits
There are 2 main types of educational credits recognized by professional breastfeeding organizations:
• CERPs- these are educational credits awarded by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (iblce.org)
• CMEs- The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education accredits institutions that offer CME to physicians and other healthcare professionals. The American Medical Association recognizes CME credits, particularly AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. These can be used by physicians in any specialty such as pediatrics, OB/Gyn, family medicine, etc.
All IABLE courses both live and enduring are awarded continuing education credits by The American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.
IABLE stopped applying for CERPS for its educational programming as of January 2026, after determining that this was the best decision for the organization’s financial health as a nonprofit and its ability to offer equity pricing and low-cost programming.
According to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) Individual CERPs Guide for Recertification, Section IIIA, education that has been awarded educational credit by another board or organization may be counted as CERPs. Each CME credit could be counted as one CERP. There is no limit to the number of CMEs that can be counted as CERPs.
