Overview of the Building a Practice Series
This series, scheduled for 1.0 hours on the third Friday of each month, is designed for physicians who currently practice breastfeeding medicine, or are new to the field and are interested in learning the ins and outs of establishing and maintaining a breastfeeding and lactation medicine (BFLM) practice.
This series is an opportunity to teach each other how we incorporate the specialized field of BFLM into a variety of practice models such as academic settings, private practice, and direct primary care. Each session will be awarded 1.0 CMEs. CMEs can also be used for nursing and lactation re-certifications. No experience is necessary to participate; we welcome all learners!
Our hosts, Lena Edelstein MD, NABBLM-C, IBCLC, and Anne Eglash MD, NABBLM-C, IBCLC, FABM, will lead a discussion with guests on a variety of breastfeeding and lactation medicine practice topics ranging from establishing a practice, tools of the trade, billing, teaching, etc.

• Describe a model for primary care physicians on how to integrate lactation care within a primary care practice
• Describe nuances in billing for breastfeeding and lactation care within a primary care practice
About the Instructor
Dr. Tanguay is a doctor of osteopathic medicine who practices general pediatrics full-time with one half-day dedicated to lactation medicine per week. Dr. Tanguay attneded medical school at Rocky Vista University and then completed pediatric training at Cleveland Clinic Children’s in 2019. She worked at Akron Children’s in the emergency department and did breastfeeding education for trainees before transitioning to primary care in Colorado Springs, CO, where she currently works.

Recording/Evaluation
The recording of the webinar AND the evaluation will be available for 1 month to those who have registered. Attendees can earn credits through any combination of live participation and/or viewing the recording.
Within 3 days after the event, the recording and evaluation will be available at the orange “View My Courses” button in your IABLE’s My Account page. To receive your credits, you must attest to attending live or watching the recording, in addition to completing the quiz and evaluation.
These must be completed within 1 month, before they expire.
Please note that for a number of reasons, it is our policy not to permit registration for our events, nor access to the recordings, after the event has occurred. These include policies of our accreditors and speakers, technical issues, and fairness to everyone who has registered.
Accreditation
CMEs: The AAFP has reviewed Building & Maintaining a Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine Practice Series, and deemed it acceptable for 1.0 AAFP credit. Term of approval is from 10/10/2025 to 10/09/2026. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
CERPs: According to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) Individual CERPs Guide for Recertification, Section IIIA, education that has been awarded educational credit by another board or organization may be counted as CERPs. All IABLE courses both live and enduring are awarded continuing education credits (CMEs) from the American Academy of Family Physicians. Each CME credit can be counted as one CERP. There is no limit to the number of CMEs that can be counted as CERPs.
CEUs: According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the continuing education hours approved by the AAFP and AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ meet the requirement of formally approved continuing education hours and may be used as such for ANCC Certification renewal.
