Overview of the Clinician Teacher Series
The monthly Clinician Teacher in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Series aims to address strategies for starting and maintaining a Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine practice, pearls for patient management, and curriculum development and implementation for our learners.
Whether we work in large health systems, direct primary care, private group practice, telehealth, or Federally Qualified Health Centers, we all have innovations, ideas, advice, and questions to share regarding how we teach, practice medicine, and manage our Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine practices. Each month we will cover a different topic that pertains to our work such as items we stock, tools we use, how we bill, patient screening and triage, challenging clinical scenarios, curriculum development, and more.

Webinar Objectives
• Explain the principles of time-based coding and coding by medical decision making
• Identify the requirements needed to bill as a consultant
• Discuss considerations on whether to bill for the lactating parent and/or the infant
• Define incident-to billing
About the Instructors
Anne Eglash MD, IBCLC, FABM
Anne is a clinical professor with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. In addition to family medicine, she has been practicing breastfeeding medicine since 1994.
Dr. Eglash is a cofounder of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, the Medical Director and cofounder of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, and the Medical Director of the University of Wisconsin Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Clinic. She has published many peer- reviewed articles on breastfeeding medicine and is a past associate editor for Breastfeeding Medicine Journal.
Dr. Eglash is founder and president of The Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education (IABLE), as well as a cofounder and the inaugural president of the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine.
Karen Bodnar MD, IBCLC, FABM, FAAP
Karen received her BS in Physics from MIT and served as an officer in the US Air Force. She then completed medical school and pediatric residency at the University of Florida. At UF, she also studied to become an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). After completing her training, she spent 5 years in California where she worked in private practice and as an assistant clinical professor of general pediatrics at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. In 2015, she relocated to Virginia and became a pediatric hospitalist, assistant clinical professor at Inova Children’s Hospital, and medical director of the Inova Breastfeeding Medicine Clinic. She is a fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM), a past board member of IABLE, and is a current board member of ABM. She is a cohost of the Breastfeeding Medicine Podcast series.

Recording
A recording of the webinar will be available for 2 months to those who have registered. Attendees can earn credits through any combination of live participation and/or viewing the recording.

CME: The AAFP has reviewed CLINICIAN TEACHER IN BREASTFEEDING AND LACTATION MEDICINE: A HEALTHCARE SERIES, and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit. Term of approval is from 09/20/2023 to 09/19/2024. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This session is approved for 1 AAFP Prescribed Credits. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
CEUs: According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the continuing education hours approved by the AAFP and AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ meet the requirement of formally approved continuing education hours and may be used as such for ANCC Certification renewal.
