Overview

This course, for physicians and other healthcare providers, covers infant musculoskeletal problems as part of an evaluation for feeding difficulties, including discussion on assessment and management through an osteopathic lens.

  1. Explain infant exam symptoms and signs that may indicate musculoskeletal problems affecting feeding

  • Signs and symptoms of infant issues
  • Contributing peripartum factors to infant feeding difficulties
  • Description of the technique of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

Accreditation

CMEs: The AAFP has reviewed Infant Musculoskeletal Issues that Affect Breastfeeding Medicine and deemed it acceptable for up to 0.75 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Speaker Biography

Sammi Tyler DO, currently lives in Madison, WI where she practices as both a hospitalist in the Neonatal ICU and providing osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) to pediatric, pregnant, and post-partum patients in clinic. She completed pediatrics residency at the University of Wisconsin and completed both medical school training and a fellowship in OMM at Des Moines University in Iowa. Sammi loves hiking in the mountains, practicing yoga on and off her mat, and she’s passionate about helping infants breastfeed more successfully utilizing OMM.
