Overview

This 1-hour course, designed for physicians and other healthcare providers, involves reading a peer reviewed journal article on the topic of the International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes (the Code), with discussion on its current relevance and the role of advocacy for Code adherence.

Objectives

  • — Name examples of civil society action to create enabling environments for breastfeeding
  • — Identify gaps in the reach of the Code at the local level

Accreditation

CMEs: The AAFP has reviewed “International Code of Marketing: A Call to Action” and deemed it acceptable for up to 1.0 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
