This 2-hour webinar focuses on clinical challenges experienced by lactating individuals who primarily pump milk. The sessions will address strategies to prevent and manage common issues such as low and excessive milk production as well as recurrent mastitis and pain.

Participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the relationship between method of milk expression and prolactin response.
  • Identify risk factors for low milk production among women who pump.
  • Explain why exclusive pumping can lead to over production of milk.
  • Identify how pumping can increase the risk of trauma and breast inflammation.
  • Discuss strategies to prevent breast and nipple pain among women who exclusively pump.
  • Describe interventions to help manage low and high milk production.
  • Identify strategies to manage breast and nipple pain among women who exclusively pump.
