The International LactMap Project is a set of 3 interactive Google Maps designed to search for lactation help in any geographic location. People from all over the world can list their services by purchasing one or more pins on the maps. The cost of a pin is an annual subscription fee of $15.

The LactMap has 3 categories:

  1. Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine
Find a physician, advanced practice provider (nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or midwife) who provides not only lactation counseling, but also medical diagnostic and treatment care for breastfeeding and lactation issues.
  2. Breastfeeding and Lactation Consultants and Supporters
Find individuals to provide lactation counseling and support.
  3. Non-Profit Community Organization
Find breastfeeding coalitions, health departments, state alliances and other groups, as they often share valuable local resources such as pump rental locations, local parent-infant groups, etc.

I want to buy a LactMap pin, but how do I know which LactMap to be on?

If you are a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or midwife, we encourage you to purchase a pin on the Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine LactMap.

If you are a lactation consultant, lactation counselor, or other allied health professional who counsels the lactating dyad – both the parent and infant, we recommend purchasing a pin on the Breastfeeding and Lactation Consultants and Supporters.

If you represent a breastfeeding coalition, state/county/city health department, WIC agency, local breastfeeding alliance, La Leche League chapter, Baby Café or other group, please choose a pin for the Non-Profit Community Organization LactMap. Please contact us if you represent a nonprofit breastfeeding organization that is unable to purchase a pin.

A pin is included in the IABLE Premium membership. If you are a Premium Member you will find your pin in your member dashboard.

Note that individuals/organizations can purchase multiple pins.

What knowledge/skills are required to be listed on a LactMap?

The goal of the LactMap Project is to help people find comprehensive support and care during lactation. Therefore, we invite physicians, other medical providers, lactation consultants, and other community breastfeeding support professionals who care for the entire dyad (parent/child(ren)) to purchase a pin.

What information can I share on the LactMap?

We encourage you to share what you think is most important for families to know – it is basically an advertisement! You will have 250 characters to describe information on your location, website, services, hours, etc. We encourage you to not share an email address, due to the risk of being spammed.
