Join us for a full day with Dr. Nils Bergman! Dr. Bergman is a physician and researcher who has dedicated his professional life to the study of Kangaroo Mother Care, and how zero separation of the mother and infant after birth is crucial for optimal infant development and reduction of infant morbidity and mortality. Dr. Bergman led the largest randomized controlled trial to date, (the ‘World Health Organization Immediate Kangaroo Mother Care Study’) exploring the effect of immediate skin to skin care among premature and low birth weight infants in 5 low resource countries. He will share results of this study, which were published in the New England Journal of Medicine May 27, 2021. He will also explain the science behind skin to skin care and discuss how to implement this practice in NICUs around the world.
