Overview of the Research Series
This monthly educational series is an exploration of the science of human lactation which aims to deepen understanding and explain our shared clinical observations. We look forward to showcasing researchers who have made it their lives’ work to contribute to an ever-growing foundation of science that will ultimately strengthen the roles that breastfeeding and human lactation play in the health of the lactating parent, child and family.
About the Webinar
Dr. Carolyn Prouse is Queen’s National Scholar in Urban Economic Geography and Assistant Professor at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. She is a qualitative social scientist trained in economic and feminist geography. Dr. Prouse’s research program is focused on how people living in low-income communities grapple with different kinds of economic practices and markets. Her most recent research has looked at the racialized, classed, and gendered assumptions underpinning donor human milk markets, and how blood tissue is being incorporated into biosurveillance programs targeting poorer communities.
