What is Deep Dive?
Deep Dive is an expansive cross-disciplinary Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Curriculum, designed to comprehensively cover requisite knowledge for physicians and other providers who intend to practice Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine. This is a 2-year curriculum comprised of blended learning for physicians and other providers. The monthly core topics are clinically focused and align with the North American Board of Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine’s (NABBLM) blueprint for board certification examination.
When Does Deep Dive Start?
The Deep Dive begins with completion of the IABLE Core Content of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Course either January 21-25th, 2025, or 2024. Attendance can be via webinar, or via recordings. The Core Content must be completed before Deep Dive begins April 2nd, 2025. Upon signing up for Deep Dive, you will also receive access to the 2024 Core Content sessions, so that you can get a head-start in completing Core Content before April 2nd, 2025.
Deep Dive orientation will be Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 from 5:00-8:00pm CST, and we strongly encourage all participants to attend.
Are There Any Educational Requirements for Me to Enroll in Deep Dive?
There are no specific prerequisites for breastfeeding medicine training. The Core Content and Deep Dive programs are structured to begin with foundational concepts of breastfeeding and lactation medicine, progressively covering more advanced topics in the field. The subject matter experts and instructors responsible for developing and updating the content assume that participants are healthcare professionals including physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives, or physician assistants, who possess clinical experience in patient evaluation, differential diagnosis, and treatment.
Finishing IABLE’s Core Content of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine 2024 or 2025 is required to begin Deep Dive in April 2025.
Can I purchase Deep Dive without paying for Core Content?
We do not have separate pricing for people who have completed Core Content in the past. Everyone who signs up for Deep Dive 2025-2027 will have ongoing access to all Core Content lectures for 2025, 2026, and 2027, which are updated annually.
How is Deep Dive Structured?
Each participant should anticipate approximately 6 hours of learning each month, through a combination of small group work, independent learning activities, and large group webinar discussions with subject matter experts. The large group webinar discussions will be the 4th Wednesday evening of each month, 6:30-8:00pm CST, other than when there are holidays. Although live attendance will be strongly encouraged, the sessions will be recorded. The following is the list of dates for the group webinar discussions:
2025 – 4/30, 5/28, 6/25, 7/30, 8/27, 9/24, 10/29, 12/3
2026 – 1/28, 2/25, 3/25, 4/29, 5/27, 6/24, 7/29, 8/26, 9/30, 10/28,12/2

Will The Curriculum Allow Me to Sit for The North American Board Of Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine (NABBLM) Board Exam?
NABBLM has not established their criteria for exam candidates who do not qualify for Grandparenting-in. IABLE anticipates that Deep Dive will meet criteria for didactic preparation for the NABBLM exam.
Who is Eligible to Register for the Deep Dive?
The Deep Dive curriculum is appropriate for physicians and other providers (physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and midwives) who practice at a diagnostic and treatment level. Enrollment is open to anybody world-wide.
Accreditation
